Progression made me do it
Standing underneath the bar, I didn't set out to make a big leap. I just took one small step back. Then another. Then another.
I hadn't done this jump since before my ACL injury. And now? Not because I was trying to be fearless. Because I was curious.
How much capability could one small progression create?
That's the thing about hard things. People often talk about doing hard things as though they require enormous courage. Sometimes they do. But more often, hard things become possible because of a progression.
They rarely happen all at once. They grow through tiny increases in challenge, trust and skill. Until one day, what once felt impossible becomes the obvious next step.
The progression made me do it!
Each step was small enough to feel , but together they created something bigger. Eventually I reached a point where the jump I once considered impossible felt like the natural next thing to try.
That's the power of progression.
Capability doesn't usually arrive in giant leaps. It compounds. A little more strength. A little more skill. A little more trust. A little more confidence.
Whatever challenge sits in front of us, we rarely need to conquer the whole thing today. We just need to take one more step back. Then one more.
