‘I just wanna lose weight’ …
A lot of clients, particularly women, come to me and say ‘I’ve gained a lot of weight in mid-life. I’m doing what I used to do and all of a sudden I’m 10-15kg heavier!… or just plain ‘I just wanna lose weight!’
And losing weight is hard or everyone would be skinny, right? Also hard is the fact that ‘I just wanna lose weight’ just isn’t a compelling enough reason to do the very thing it’s saying!
A lot of ‘they’ out there will tell you your weight problem is cos your metabolism. But it’s not exactly right. It's your modern life, your lifestyle, or just plain style! Modern life has engineered movement (& more recently what food really is!) out of our bodies.
Food (& I deliberately don’t write ‘healthy food’ cos it’s just food or it’s ’not food’, ok?!) and simple natural human movement aren’t optional. They’re essential nutrients. And pillars of health (& a lean & strong body!)
When things are hard, you need to be able to dig into your lifestyle, your style, your why.
You really have to have something really exciting that you’re pursuing, probably beyond the physical, to really make lasting change.
Finding your ‘why’ sounds like a far-too-overwhelmingly-enormous-idea to sort out, now or any time actually. But like most things, let’s take it to the smallest possible step, and now, if that’s ok?
Three questions:
What did I achieve today?
What am I grateful for?
What am I going to win tomorrow?
Don’t believe me? Try it. Each night before you go to bed you’ll not only sleep better ‘full’ of all your good vibes, but after a few inputs you start to affect the outputs, the way you go about those outputs, and most important of all, getting your inputs into a day as a priority over the things that just take up your day.
It's Not Too Late to find your "why." Need help getting started (https://www.fitbynature.org/contact)?
