What’s the 5 Day Mobility Challenge?

The 5 day mobility challenge starts 1.11.25. What’s involved? 5 days, 5 principles. Checkin. Movements. Recheck. That’s it.

One of my mentors, Gray Cook from FMS Systems, uses the concept of "plasticity" in movement to describe your body's ability to relearn, adapt, and return to authentic, healthy movement patterns. He talks about using mobility and correctives to see how plastic you are, where a person's response to these exercises reveals how easily their nervous system and motor control can be reset or rewired.

That’s the simplicity of a daily mobility routine - and maybe not all at once (who has time to add yet more to their full to bursting schedule!) and maybe just focusing on a few joints to improve.

For instance, how’s your foundation aka ankle mobility. Let’s checkin with your single leg balance right now.

  • Check in: Just stand on one leg. The minimum is 30s, but your minimum is you vs you. Check in. Record it. Now let’s work on it.

  • Movements: start with some ankle CARs (there’s loads on YouTube) to make some space in those ankle joints. You use them day in day out and give them little love! Next, standing on one leg, try to touch the ground (or your ankle, sock top, knee, your level!) then bring your knee to your chest (like slow mo running), without ‘falling’. Try to get 5-10. Repeat other leg. Finish with some calf raises, just lifting to tip toes ten times. You’re done.

  • Retest. Stand on one leg. What’s your new time? Can you get lower, longer? Notice what a difference a few minutes can make?

The 5 day mobility challenge will take you through the major 5, determined by most clients’ pain and stiffness points, where we all see major improvements in a single session. Yes, it’s sorcery. But that’s the mobility magic!
