Move Like You Mean It: Practise Falling

Adults try not to fall at all. Kids? They can’t get to the ground fast enough! One has learned to avoid it, the other hasn’t learned they need to worry about it. Both have something to learn, same fundamental skill.

Movement isn't just about keeping kids active or helping older people avoid injury. It's about building capability that travels with us through life.

The longer it's been since you last rolled on the ground or practised controlling a fall, the more unfamiliar the floor can feel. We stiffen, hesitate and start protecting ourselves from movements we may once have taken for granted.

Practising helps make the ground familiar again. It builds the experience to respond, adapt and recover when movement doesn't go to plan.

I don't practise falling because I expect to fail. I practise because I expect to keep playing.

The goal isn't to avoid the ground. It's to feel capable when you meet it.

Move like you mean it.
