Healing isn’t found in a hack, it’s found in found-ations

“You have to do the basics. You can't just biohack the crap out of your life." JULIET STARRETT

The cold plunges, the supplements, the trendy diet, the rigid routine, the best biohacks... are they just a prettier version of survival mode? We've turned health into a performance metric instead of a way of being.

Don’t get me wrong I love my sauna (I’m less inclined to enjoy cold plunges but they have saved my running legs in 3 nyc marathons and the 5 months preceding training and then some!). Simply, yes those tools can be helpful. But, we’re not meant to live in survival mode, even if it looks healthy on the outside. Cos, healing isn't found in a hack. It’s found in owning the basics.

I have so many clients who have the $15K infrared saunas, take their ice baths at dawn, track 47 biomarkers, even more supplements at each meal, are on the latest peptide protocol, track their HRV score religiously at 5am, $500 NAD injections… Military-grade morning routines don’t sound that fun to me? But also there’s those days when life just happens and you miss something, and then the real problems take over - you start to lose trust in yourself, that you didn’t do what you said you would. This isn't wellness - it's wellness anxiety dressed up as optimization.

The modern wellness culture has created a paradox: the pursuit of perfect health has become a source of chronic stress. When we transform basic human needs into performance metrics, we're not only missing the point of what "health" is, we're fundamentally disrupting the very systems we're attempting to optimize.

True wellness is found in the found-ations:

  • Eating real food.

  • Moving your body.

  • Sleeping when it's dark.

  • Spending time in nature.

  • Having meaningful relationships.

True health emerges from alignment with fundamental biological principles, not from the conquest biohacking optimisation of them. Have you ever stop to think how human beings survived on this planet without a biohack? Cos all these biohacks everyone is selling is what nature had from the get go. Let’s get back to that.

We can't out-protein, out-sauna, out-fancy-supplement the ways in which we live in competition with our biology. Longevity isn't about knowing more - it's about doing the basic stuff consistently. Go touch some grass. Drink some good water. Eat a grass fed steak. Eat a veggie or two. Lift something heavy. Sleep well. Connect with your family and friends. Find then practice health in your foundations!
